GIMPshop for OSX
Hmm...I'm going to have to give GIMPshop for OSX a try. I'm a pretty confirmed Photoshop user on the PC, but I haven't run it on the Mac seriously since I got a Photoshop accelerated card for my Mac IIci (Thanks again, Bob!)
I used GIMP way back when xv was the new thing on X Windows so I'm sure it's better now. Hmm...I see integrating that RAW file code in my future...

Three Photo Sites
Ken Rockwell has a review of the Nikon D70 that contains plenty of useful usage tips. Lots of useful info here.
Camerapedia.org has camera stuff, of course.
If you're going to be playing with RAW file types, and you want to roll your own tools, check out Dave Coffin's dcraw page.

USBWare
Jeremy Wagstaff has a great article on USB drive enabled applications that he's made available on his blog. Some of the more interesting apps (at least to me) are Trillian Anywhere and Essential PIM. Gotta check those out...

St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day in Boston isn't too big of a big deal, but I usually look at it as the time to start getting hopeful for spring. It is starting to warm up a bit in the daytime, but as you can see, we've still got plenty of snow cover.

The Big Oak
I didn't manage to get many photographs this weekend, but I did rather like this one. Prophet, my trusty assistant and I trudged out to the middle of the show grounds and got this shot of the big oak that dominates the middle of the field there. I rather like the moody clouds and despite appearances to the contrary, this really is a color photo. Things just get a bit gloomy around here in the winter.
I've also been practicing with Photoshop a bit more lately and this one yielded some rather pleasing results as well.
Not bad work for a day's shooting.

Photo Phame!
Ok, maybe not famous, but one of my horse photos was flickrzenned as one of the 'great photos of Flickr'. Cool.
This one was taken on 1 March 2005, at the tail end of a rather sizable snowstorm. We were the only two to see the trees like that since we, um, galloped though those branches moments later.
As zenera of flickrzenned said, 'Beautiful Narnia!'

Essential Tools
Mark Pilgrim gives a list of his essential software tools. Lots of good stuff here and since I'm of the same mind about a few common pics, like Emacs, I think I'll need to check out a few more of his suggestions like Adium for IM and rsync.
